Do it with your own head first.
The machine will always be faster. It will never be more satisfying. What follows is the layer-by-layer method — the one nearly every solver learns first: build the bottom layer, fill the middle, then finish the top with a handful of repeatable sequences. Nothing here needs memorising on the first pass. Read it with a cube in your hands and work one section at a time.
Expect an hour or two the first time. Expect five minutes within a week.
Twenty-six little cubes wrapped around a spindle. Six centres, one per face, bolted to that spindle — they spin but never travel, so the white centre is the white face, permanently. Twelve edges with two colours each. Eight corners with three.
This is the whole secret of the method: you are never moving colours around, you are walking each piece home. And because centres are fixed, home is always knowable — a red-and-blue edge belongs between the red centre and the blue centre, nowhere else.
Hold the cube still and name the six faces from where you sit. A letter means: turn that face a quarter turn clockwise as you look straight at it. An apostrophe reverses it. A 2 means go round twice.

Rule one: never re-orient the cube in the middle of a sequence. Finish it, then turn.
A white cross, with matching sides
Put white on top for this bit. Find the four edge pieces that carry white and bring each one up so its white sticker points at the ceiling — a white plus sign across the top face.
Now the part beginners skip and regret: the other colour on each of those edges must line up with its own centre. Spin the top layer until an edge sits above its matching centre, then turn that side face twice to drop the edge into the bottom. Repeat four times.
The four white corners
Flip the cube so white is at the bottom and the finished cross is underneath you. Look along the top layer for corner pieces with a white sticker.
Park one directly above the gap it belongs in — the gap between its own two other colours — then repeat the sequence below until it drops in white-side-down. It can take one go or five; nothing else on the cube is harmed while you wait.
Four edges, no yellow
One layer down, one to go. The middle layer needs four edge pieces, and every one of them is somewhere in the top layer — the ones with no yellow on them.
Turn the top until an edge sits directly above its matching centre, making a short vertical line of one colour. Its other colour now points left or right; use the matching sequence to send it that way.
A yellow cross
Only the top layer remains, and from here you stop improvising and start applying. Ignore the corners entirely; you are only shaping the four yellow edges.
You will see one of three things: a single yellow dot, a short bar, or an L-shaped elbow. Run the sequence once from a dot to get an elbow, once from an elbow (held pointing up-left) to get a bar, once from a bar (held flat across) to get the cross.
The whole top face yellow
The cross is there, but the four corners are probably still showing yellow on their sides. Count how many corners already have yellow on top: zero, one, or two.
Hold the cube so a yellow sticker sits on the left-hand side of the front face — or, if one corner is already done, hold that finished corner at the front-left. Repeat the sequence, re-checking your grip between goes, until the whole face is yellow.
Corners into the right corners
A yellow face, but the sides are a mess. Walk around the cube and look for one corner whose three colours already belong where it sits, even if it is twisted.
Hold that corner at the front-right and run the sequence to cycle the other three round. If no corner is correct anywhere, run it once from any angle and one will appear.
The final four edges
Everything is home except, most likely, three edges that need to swap places. Look for the one side of the cube that is already a solid block of colour and hold it at the back.
Run the sequence to rotate the remaining three edges. Do it once and check; if the cube is still not solved, hold the completed side at the back again and repeat. On the last move the cube snaps into one colour per face.
Scrambling the cube by accident is part of it — nothing you do is permanent. If a layer collapses, rebuild it; the second time takes a quarter as long. And if you would rather see the answer, the solver is one tap away.
Once the method is automatic, the time goes into looking ahead: solving one piece while your eyes hunt the next. Speed comes from fewer pauses, not faster fingers.
